Acceptance of papers for publication in the journal The Malopolska School of Economics in Tarnow Research Papers Collection takes place according to the rules adopted by the editors:
- The editor-in-chief of the journal sets out the formal principles that should guide the authors who prepare articles. These rules are published on the journal's website.
- The circulation of documents in the publishing process is supervised by the secretary of the publishing house.
- The rules for registering users in the electronic journal management system are set by the editor-in-chief. These rules are available on the journal's website.
- Articles for publication are accepted only in the form of electronic submissions made by users registered in the system. Articles submitted for publication should be prepared in accordance with the editorial requirements.
- The editor-in-chief makes a preliminary assessment of the compliance of the subject of the article with the aims and publishing profile of the journal. An article whose subject matter goes beyond the accepted scope may be rejected at this stage.
- The article initially accepted by the editor-in-chief is subject to formal verification and checking with an anti-plagiarism program. The editorial secretary informs the author about any formal deficiencies or irregularities noticed within a period not exceeding 14 days from the date of receipt of the article for verification.
- An article prepared in accordance with the formal principles in force in the publishing house is forwarded to the editor-in-chief who appoints the thematic editor (leading) who has academic achievements in the area corresponding to the subject of the article.
- If statistical methods were used in the article, the editor-in-chief directs the work to the statistical editor at the same time.
- The thematic editor presents the editor-in-chief with a written opinion on the work prepared on the evaluation form used in the editorial office.
- The statistical editor presents the editor with a written opinion on the statistical methods used in the work, prepared on the evaluation form used in the editorial office.
- If initial evaluation, referred to in points 9–10, is negative, the work is returned to the author, and its re-admission for assessment is conditional upon the implementation of the opinion giver's recommendations.
- If the article receives initial positive evaluation, and the editor-in-chief decides to submit the work for external review.
- The editor-in-chief directs the work to two reviewers at the same time, with the proviso that they represent different academic (science and research) centres.
- The review is prepared on the review form in force at the publishing house. This form contains scoring of the work (included in the range 0–35) and a descriptive assessment.
- If at least one review is negative (the reviewer requests rejection of the article) or the score for at least one review is lower than 20, the article is rejected (returned to the author).
- If both reviews contain a recommendation for publication, they do not contain detailed comments, and the score for each of them is at least 20, the article is forwarded for publication.
- If both reviews contain a recommendation for publication, the scores are not lower than 20, but at least one of the reviews contains detailed comments (recommended small or large changes), the work is returned to the Author, who is obliged to take into account all of the comments and suggestions of the reviewer. The author presents a corrected and supplemented work together with a description of the changes introduced (in response to the comments contained in the review).
- The corrected and supplemented article is verified by the thematic editor (leading), who gives opinions on whether the introduced changes are correct and exhaustively responds to the comments of the reviewer or reviewers; he presents his opinion to the editor-in-chief, who decides whether to accept the article for publication or reject it.
